The seed of an idea
Have you ever planted the seed of an idea in a fertile space?
Did you cultivate it?
Feed it?
Nourish it?
Brought in extra hands and minds to shape and support its evolution?
When it came to fruition and delivered in abundance, do you remember how almost god-like you felt?
And what the ideas’s launch meant to your business, family or community?
When we sow the seed of a plant that will become nutritive food, the same beautiful process occurs. We often only see the outcome: the fruit, the meal, the packages on supermarket shelves. The tangible results of an incredible idea.
Everything we touch, see, hear, taste and think is the product of a seed once carefully sown.
In our ideas, as in nature, we must have diversity to ensure the survival and evolution of all life connected to that idea or plant’s creation. If we choose to grow only one kind of food, what might happen to everything that survived off those now-extinct variants of the singularly chosen plant? Replace the word ‘food’ with idea, culture, language, animal, business model…...
We need difference.
Diversity matters for our survival.
So my challenge to myself (and to you) when I see constantly repeated patterns in my life – of ideas, food, experiences etc - is to ask the question:
If everything remains the same,
what limitations am I/are we creating,
and what richness are we missing?
